Classified jobs, or jobs found in the classified section of the newspaper or classified sections, are still popular despite the high usage of websites like craigslist and monsterjobs. Many job seekers still investigate job postings made in the classified sections before going online. All newspapers will have a classified section from small local papers to the more regional or national papers.
Larger newspapers will also have an online version of the classifieds though much of this information may be the same as what is found in the newspaper. The classifieds has other information then just jobs and you can find items for sale, home rentals and other career information. You may be able to access this information without having a subscription as many times there is an option just to view the online version, so you won't have to pay for the printing and paper used to produce the paper, not to mention any delivery fees.
The classifieds tend to be broken up into different categories. You can find jobs in transportation, part-time positions, marketing jobs, sales jobs, technology jobs, hospitality jobs, human resource jobs, health care jobs, government jobs, engineering jobs, executive jobs, customer service jobs, clerical jobs, administration jobs, finance jobs, banking jobs, and accounting positions.
You can bring your classified job advertisement to the international world. This can be particularly useful if you are looking to expand your company or create a more diverse workforce. There are many companies that can successfully translate your classified to the local languages and dialects.
Trade journals will also contain classified sections that are tailored to a very specific industry and set of trade skills. This is a great place to look if you are part of a small industry and may not normally post positions in local classified sections wither in newspapers or websites. Universities and other corporations may post positions in trade journals as they are looking for individuals with a specific skill set and experience.
You can also join online communities to uncover some job positions though these sites may not have a specific classifieds section. Facebook has started to offer a classified section. These types of group chats or discussion may also offer some great advice for finding or changing your job, information that is not typically in the classifieds. Online classified site may also offer career advice articles and job reviews where as newspaper classifieds tend to only list jobs and sale items.
There are many classified job articles that provide a brief detail of the desired position and skills needed to apply. When placing a classified job ad you must pay in advance and prices will vary depending on the length and word count of the article. To put a classified in the local website, magazine or online you may need to fill out a simple form, mail in the ad or give the order over the phone.
Anyone can access classified jobs, you just need to go out and start looking. It is helpful to have some idea of the position you are looking for before you begin applying for jobs.
